Yay! My first finished quilt of 2011! This quilt is Pretty in Purple. I'm not sure that purple even makes my top ten favourite colours, but my three-year-old daughter figures it is just the best. The quilt is for her toddler bed. Those are 5 inch squares. There are 130 of them.
It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Super Quilt! Just ignore me if I'm making no sense, I just thought the way the quilt was hanging in this picture, it looked like a super hero cape billowing in the wind ...

I felt a lot better doing the quilting this time. I used straight (or crooked ;-) ...) lines. I did a really heavy duty job basting it, using LOTS of pins and it really helped. In the room-for-improvement category, I should have used a longer stitch length for a better look overall.
The fairy fabric is on the back and the binding is a Kaffe Fassett fabric. Usually I care very little about my binding choice, but this binding somehow delights me. It has a certain brightness about it that really seems to flatter the quilt.
This pic is for my Dad who I know reads the blog. He gave me that antique spooled quilt rack for my birthday. He did a great job refinishing it. (Don't worry, it was so cold that the snow was dry and didn't do anything at all to the finish on the rack)
A pic of one of my helpers. School here only resumes next Tuesday.

And on a final note, I've noticed that some other bloggers are posting New Year's resolutions or quilty goals for the year. I don't really make resolutions, but I did make one small sewing-related one: Trim threads. As I go. Yes, slow down for a second, locate the scissors and snip. In the past my quilts have been honestly shaggy with dangling threads by the time I'm done and then I have to do this big annoying cut-a-thon at the end. No more. I'm really going to try hard on this. Honest.

Also, this year, I thought I'd try to join in a few link ups on other blogs now and then. For this post I'm joining in with Sew and Tell. Just click here to go to a master list of all the other participants!
