Aussie ABC quilt pattern comes to life

Kathy is always thrilled to see her patterns come to life as quilts.  This quilt from Shirley in Queensland's Lockyer Valley was purchased as a kit from KoolKat Quilting.  Shirley took advantage of the $50 e2e machine quilting voucher that is enclosed with every Aussie ABC kit and it is shown here being quilted on the KoolKat Gammill Optimum.

Chinchilla strips their stashes

Chinchilla quilters met at the Arts and Crafts Hall where they quickly got down to work stripping stashes into bundles of 2 1/2 inch strips as well as cutting tumbler blocks, squares, applique blocks and other fabric pieces using KoolKat's Accuquilt Studio Cutter.  Kathy demonstrated her quilt samples making various fabric pieces from the cutter as well as her quilt designs such as Bali Butterfly, Circles of Oz, Would You Like Zig with Your Zag, Quick-set Bali and Aussie ABC.

Sushi for Tea

What to make for dinner?  Hmm ... eternal question.  Sushi is always a favourite.  In our recent travels we've been introducing the new Sushi Roll packs of 24 delicious cut strips of bali fabrics.  But what do we do with them?  Here's one suggestion - Kathy's new Sushi for Tea placemat set.  Make a tablerunner with six placemats with this latest design in the KoolKat Quilting collection.  Pattern is free with any Sushi Roll purchase.  For more details, go to:

Art Nouveau Iris

Art Nouveau Iris is the latest pattern that will be included in a 'starter kit' of fabric and helpful information to get you started on one of Kathy's favourite passions - the stained glass technique. Many of you will be familiar with Kathy's spectacular "Gather Ye Rosebuds" that has been available as a Block of the Month. There will be more news about the Rosebud quilt in January.
The Art Nouveau Iris pattern makes a 34 x 50 cm (13 1/4 x 19 3/4 inches) wall hanging, which Kathy says is part of her rnage of "makeitinaweekend" patterns. To find out more, go to our pattern catalogue.

Quick-set Jelly quilts

It has been busy, busy, busy for Kathy and Geoff at KoolKat Quilting. Geoff has now completed his first 12 months full-time working at KoolKat and he says he's enjoying the experience. Having some help in the quilt room has meant Kathy has had time to pursue her love of design. Several quilt patterns have emerged so far, with Quick-set Jelly (above) being one of these. However, it takes some time before the designer sees the final result - completed quilts made by customers returning to KoolKat for quilting. Just this past week, three Quick-set Jelly quilts came back to us. Sharon (left) and Paula (centre) used a Hoffman's Bali Pop which is the equivalent of a jelly roll of fabric to make their quilts. The bali pops are available from KoolKat or most quilt and fabric suppliers. The right hand side quilt was made by Coolum Quilters after a visit by KoolKat to their club where we presented a quilt voucher to the club as a way of saying thank you for our visit.
