My reality......

If you've been to my studio before you know that I'm far from perfect. I try to keep it clean and under control but with a 3yr old running around and playing all day every day while I stand at my quilting machine some day's it's far far far from perfect.
Also, if you were come to my studio on a day that I wasn't expecting you, you'd probably see me like this.
No shoes or socks, I despise shoes and socks. Flip flops all year long, no matter how much snow.
Showing off my nasty black toe that is still black from the half marathon.
I may be wearing my favorite comfy pants that have lots of worn out spots that my husband despises. :)
You may also find my hair in one of those, just got out of the shower and threw my hair in a pony tail things.
In my studio you may also see way more of these babies than I'd like to admit, especially lately.... I've been working on something exciting, and have needed a little caffeine to stay awake all night, more details to come later. :)
Even though things aren't always perfect and some days I put in way too many hours I will never complain. I really love what I do. I love that I have to opportunity to work, I love that I have the opportunity to spend time with my daughter, I love that I am able to spend a lot of time with my parents and husband, well when I can get him to stay at the studio for more than 5 minutes.

That's the reality of me in a nutshell.
I'd love to hear about yours. :)

Long Armed and Dangerously Fast.....

Tomorrow Kathleen and I will be participating in an exciting fundraiser for the Make A Wish foundation of Utah.
Button_Round_White_Bkgd
The Make A Wish foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
The Urban Challenge is sure to be a fun fundraiser. Kathleen and I are gearing up...making t-shirts and a video of ourselves..... (I'll share later) and so excited to participate.... even though we have to run....a lot.... and we haven't run at all since April... We had to come up with a team name after much deliberation we came up with Long Armed and Dangerously Fast... I'm thinking we're probably just a danger to ourselves..

Anyways, one of the challenges for the Urban Challenge Utah is to raise funds for Make A Wish foundation of Utah. We earn points toward our total score for money that we raise. If you'd like to donate to Make A Wish we are raising funds through the Urban Challenge website. Every little bit helps.

Cleaning out

I've got a few "secret" projects in the works so it's time to "clean out" the studio.
I've got a few boxes full of this beautiful mostly Moda fabric, patterns, books and a bunch of my other stash stuff and I'm selling it. Each LARGE USPS box is packed full. Each box is $50.00 plus shipping, there is easily over $100 worth of fabric and goodies in each box.
Limited supplies.
Get them while they last!

I know I can.... I know I can...

When I'm not quilting I spend my time being a mom, well I guess I do that while I'm quilting too.
This is my daughter, I love her to pieces but sometimes she frustrates me to pieces. :) Anyways she is finally big enough to ride her tricycle. She tells us all the time it's her bike "without" training wheels. In our neighborhood we have a lot of little hills and she loves to ride her tricycle on them. The other day she was riding around and having a hard time getting up one of the bigger hills. As she was pushing I overheard her quietly saying something. I listened hard and realized she was saying "I know I can..... I know I can" she repeated this a few times and then I asked her where she learned that. She told me, I'm a little engine.
So, the books we read her she actually does listen to.

Okay, back to quilting. :)
Have a happy day!

Quilting - A $3.5 Billion Industry

Often when people ask me what I do and they find out I am a "quilter" full time I get strange looks. People just can't understand this industry. I just came across this great article in one of my local newspapers and have to share this will all of my fellow quilters and friends.
Enjoy. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this topic. :)
