More Bali Butterfly quilts from Wandoan

Here are 2 more quilts made by Liane from Wandoan using Kathy's Bali Butterfly pattern.  Liane says there are more to come, and readers of this blog will have seen others Liane has already made.

Bali Butterfly with KoolKat Bali Chocmint fabric pack

Kaye from the Thursday KoolKat club made this quilt using the KoolKat Bali Chocmint pack of 40 2 1/2 inch fabric strips into Kathy's Bali Butterfly quilt pattern.  More details on the fabric and the pattern at http://www.koolkatquilting.com.au/

Chinchilla strips their stashes

 Chinchilla quilters met at the Arts and Crafts Hall where they quickly got down to work stripping stashes into bundles of 2 1/2 inch strips as well as cutting tumbler blocks, squares, applique blocks and other fabric pieces using KoolKat's Accuquilt Studio Cutter.  Kathy demonstrated her quilt samples making various fabric pieces from the cutter as well as her quilt designs such as Bali Butterfly, Circles of Oz, Would You Like Zig with Your Zag, Quick-set Bali and Aussie ABC.

Bali Butterfly variations from Liane

Recently Liane from Wandoan sent Kathy some photos of her latest variations on Kathy's Bali Butterfly pattern.  Liane previously did a King Size quilt version of the Bali Butterfly.

"Hi Kathy, just a quick note to say I am still exploring the butterfly theme. A purple butterfly in a field of flowers is the latest. It is designed as a wrap or for the back of a couch rather than a bed. I have been asked how I can do the same pattern so many times. They are all different. Even the current pink one will be different enough to be interesting, although not what I would make for myself. For the purple (and pink) I used most of a Victorian Textiles "Rainbows" pack plus lots of other co-ordinating colours."

Bali Butteffly king size

It has been very interestting and stimulating for Kathy as a quilt designer to see her designs come to life. Liane at Wandoan adapted the Bali Butterfly design to King Size by adding extra Bali fabric to the border.

This quilt was made with a Bali Pop from the Bali Pop 1 range - these have now been superseded with the Bali Pop 2 range. To see the new range, clink on the link on the link below:
