This quilt top is my latest work in progress. It's all sewn, but needs trimming and ironing. It will be for my daughter's fourth birthday which is in May. I'm a bit early on this, but I cut all the strips when my sewing machine was in for repair, so then zipping them together was super quick.

That fabric that says 'Fantastic Four' was the start of this quilt. I found it online on sale before Christmas and I just knew it was a must-have! I bought five yards of it so I will be backing the quilt with it too, as well as making a matching pillowcase and a little pillowcase dress. It is a Free-Spirit Fabric from the ABC and 123 line.

I also love this little girl print. It is 'When I Grow Up' by Henry Glass. My daughter is very excited about turning four. She has been claiming that she is 'almost four' since the new year. It was because of these two fabrics that I chose to do a super simple strip quilt -- to really show them off in bigger sections. The go-with fabrics are all from different manufacturers, but I am really pleased with how they match so well. (Hopefully the colours are transferring nicely to the computer) I have realised that one *secret* skill I have is a photographic memory for colour shades. ;-) I don't carry fabric around with me to match up, and, knock on wood, I can pretty much tell if something will coordinate perfectly or not from memory ... yes, that's it folks, call NASA! Now if only it was a skill that could be transferred to something more useful than buying fabric. Oh well.

Since the quilt is so simple, I'm going to jazz it up a bit by quilting it with four different thread colours.

As to other works in progress, later today on my errand run I will be picking up the red and pink quilt from the long-arm quilter. I realised I have only ever posted once about this quilt. I can't wait to show more of it. So there's a big bind-a-thon coming up this weekend to get it all done!

I also bought some Halloween fabric lately for future works in progress. I love Halloween and last year I made four Halloween quilts. I'm not sure how many I'll do this year ... The fabric is by Alexander Henry -- one of my absolute favourite fabric manufacturers. They almost always have cool stuff.

The colours of these will work well with the Ghastlies fabric I have.

I especially love this last print. Look at the little ghost with the top hat! And just below it, see the hand coming out of the casket? My six-year-old son Eli saw that and said "Hey, there's a guy in that suitcase!" If only they could stay so naive and innocent!
